Provide family support, education, advocacy, information and referral, and leadership opportunities to family members coming from multiple access points and from the Local Access Mechanism, the single point of access. Family Navigators are trained family members who have extensive experience raising a child with an emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenge and who have first-hand knowledge of how services are provided in the community. They help families by: linking them with assessment/evaluation and direct service resources; providing emotional support; going with them to meetings, such as at school, court, hospitals, and social service agencies; helping them decide strategies to access resources, and providing guidance on how to use their strengths to address their needs. They offer educational and leadership opportunities.
